Had a nasty bike crash on Monday and have been off work for a few days.
To keep busy I’ve made an insert (filled the voids in the stock mount is more accurate) for my transmission mount.
The aftermarket has exactly 1 mount available for the Genesis Coupe and it’s 70a. To me that’s harder than I’d like for a daily driver and after shipping, taxes, duty, and exchange rate; would cost me close to $200CND.
However, a local plastic company has 44a polyurethane mix in stock. This is about exactly the hardness I want, especially since the factory mounts are as bendable as a politician backed by big oil. It also saved me about $60 and that’s even after buying a new oem mount.
The process is pretty easy. I just used foil tape to create a casing around the back and sides of the mount.
Then mixed the poly and poured.
Now to let it sit for 16 hours and put it in (once the shoulder is better).
I’m excite.

Why have a stiffer transmission mount?
Because the factory one is so soft it contributes to significant wheel hop and second gear lock out issues. The aftermarket one is so stiff (and expensive) it contributes to diff bolts snapping. So this is the goldilocks middle ground (and it’s cheaper than the after market option).

Was going downhill and went to take a sharp left hand corner, front tire blew. Left shoulder slammed into the pavement first then I slid on my left side for 8 feet before I finally stopped. Nothing broken or torn, lots of road rash and restricted movement though. Could have been much much worse.

Oh ok. Just didn’t know why you would need a more stiff factory parts.

I’d like to do the motor mounts too, but finding oem mounts for a decent price is almost impossible.

I know yours is manual
By the front I guessed 2013 Genesis Coupe
Assuming you R-Spec is the 2.0L
$166.01 a mount before tax.
Turns out the same price ( different mount) for the 3.8L as well/

Yea, that’s what I was getting as well when I talked to my supplier and the local dealerships. There is a company that is releasing a 40a aftermarket mount this summer. That hardness would be about perfect. I’m just waiting to see pricing on theirs.
Thank you for looking though!
